Goldy Way is all about ice dye – and the light, beauty and energy this technique creates. Each one-of-a-kind piece is hand dyed with vibrant colors for an irresistible marbled effect.
During the lockdown days of 2020, Katie was seeking a creative outlet, and “dyeing fabric brought me a lot of joy and color during those dark times.”
She began creating hand-dyed photography backdrops – the kind Katie wished she’d had during her years in New York as a staff photographer at Glamour and Elle. The collection has since expanded to housewares, apparel and more.
The magic of the creative process continues to bring Katie that same joy. “You’re throwing dye over ice, then you wait. Then it’s Christmas every day when I get to rinse out these creations. It’s a process that you can’t control – that keeps me coming back.”
Light, colors in nature, California landscapes, her young daughters (Scout and Hilde).
She's happiest when: “I’m with my kids, other friends are over and I have a house full of crazy girls.”
Personal anthems? Florence & the Machine, power ballads full of strong female energy
Goldy Way’s name was inspired by writer John Muir’s essay “Twenty Hill Hollow.” He wrote of a vast example of yellow flowers, a “goldy way” on Californian land that rivaled the Milky Way above.
Katie’s ice-dye know-how gives each item a deep, complex, almost crystalline beauty. If you’ve ever run your hand over a marble counter and traced a vein of color, you’ll be super into Goldy Way.
The COLOR!
We can’t with these colorways, team. It’s legitimately tough to pick favorites – we just want to wear or use all of it. (We promise to save some for you 💟)
Think super cozy, stylish fits.
You’re not gonna want to take these sweats off. Goldy Way apparel uses American Apparel sweatshirts and sweatpants.
